Ford Ranger issue

So I was driving home, and there was a train coming and I gunned it to beat the train. Then my truck started backfiring/misfiring. I figure I have a fouled spark plug. I haven't check it yet cuz it's to late for me to go mess around on my truck. Any other ideas as to what it could possibly be?

there is allot of variables. was it wet out... what year ranger. do you have a coil on that thing or a distributor...... has it done it again or only 1 time. I need some more info.pm me if needed..

It was the spark plugs
