I was looking around just checking things out and seen a good amount of some dark gray looking fluid siting on the crank and under it too. You can only see it at certain times wile moving the crank slowly.dose the crank supposed to have any fluid on it I'm lost on this one

OK I think I figured out what it is maybe gas from when I was figuring out water was wrong with the motor or the 2 stroke oil I put in the cylinder thinking I had a stuck ring and it ran down past the piston down on the crank Ill just have to get all of it out but I think that's what it is

There must be at least a 1/4 inch of oil in the bottom of the crancase to allow the motor to be lubricated.

The way a 2 stroke gets lubricated is by splashing the oil that comes out of suspension from the premix that gathers in the bottom of the crancase.

Premixed oil and fuel itself has no lubricating properties.

When you assemble a motor you must put some oil in the crankcase or the motor will run un lubricated until enough premixed oil comes out of suspension.

Depending on throttle openings, It can take a few minutes for enough oil to accumulate to allow lubrication.

If it is this stuff you use then it is OK.
