So as the title said this is my first build. A few months ago I posted about having some problems with my blaster and it turns out I needed a piston. Finally I have the money to put into this project and I'm loking for advice. The part in particular is the splitting of the cases, I have to do it to clean out the broken pieces of piston and while I'm doing it I plan on replacing all the gaskets and seals. I've never done it before and was just wondering if there are any better ways other than go in there and pay real good attention to what your doing. I have downloaded the manual and looked it over quite a bit but theres only so much you can get off paper and I was hoping to see if those of you that had done it before could send some knowledge my way. Also if there is anything else that I should check while its all opened up? It's and 89 thats completely stock and appears to have been a little on the neglected side. I also hope to have pictures to follow soon. Thanks in advance

So I had some free time tonight and seeing as i had the motor off already I just sat down and did it and I have too say not too bad, sorry for not taking pics though I was just moving along and didnt stop, all thats left is the top end and it is because I'm still waiting on my piston

check for the obvious like broken teeth on gears and stuff like that and make sure you either replace all the bearings or make sure you clean out all the metal out of them. just a little but will destroy them. hope you get it all figured out and can get it running again. and take your time and double check things upon reassembly to make sure you put all the parts in and in the right places

Thanks and yes I did all of that but thanks for the advice I feel good about it especially for my first attempt

sounds like you made pretty quick work of that bottom end for your first time ?
did you already have the tools ???...flywhell puller, clutch holder, 2-3 jaw puller, and a crank puller ???

yeah I did, my grandad has all of that hes done a lot of engine work over the years, I wouldve asked him but he's away for a few weeks so I took it slow and of course used the manual and while i didnt have money yet I searched a ton on here so I had alot of info and using the videos seeing in the cases really helped so it wasnt a shock opening it up and seeing it for the first time
