So I was riding yesterdayand all of a sudden my engine stalled out and wouldn't crank over. So I suspected I had an ignition problem but it turns out that now when I try try to crank it over I'm fouling out and have a strong gas smell coming from within. Any help would help out and also it's a 89 blaster, thanks.

Pull the spark plug, and kick it over until you can't anymore. Could still be that you have a spark problem, but you crankcase is full of fuel now

turn off fuel and drain carb before you start kicking
So I pulled spark plug and cranked over and got good spark. Next thing I did was removed carb and cleaned out real good. Now I crank over and starts up beautiful and idles nicely but throttling up kills the motor. What now could I do for troubleshooting this issue, two steps forward one step back I guess. Lol

Set the idle as per specs.

Idle adjusting.

Set float level, make sure that all jets are clean and fuel flows freely from the float bowl drain when the screw is cracked open.

Start with air screw 1.5 turns out.

Set idle screw so that it has some sort of idle. With TORS it is the big screw under seat on top of unit. With no TORS is is the brass screw midway down carb body.

Warm up motor and then set idle screw for a faster idle, 2000rpm+

Adjust air screw either way to get the fastest idle.

Adjust air screw a little at a time leaving 10 secs or until the motor responds.

Re adjust idle screw for desired idle .

Should I still go thru this even after my idle is running just fine right now and just having the throttle issue.

If you did not set the idle as directed then yes.

An incorrect idle setting will catapult up the throttle chain to around 1/4.throttle.

After a long break, I finally got a chance to work on the bike and found that the issue was the TORS system. I bypassed it and the bike runs great. Thanks for the input everyone.
