Engine Runs but won't go past idle

05 blaster purchased at the beginning of last season. Rode hard and lots of fun. 5 tanks into this season had major engine failure. Exhaust side of piston skirt broke off and was eaten up by the motor. Did not die, but made some EVIL noises. Replaced crank bearings, connecting rod and bearings, 50 over piston and fresh punch on the jug. Got everything back together and it fired up on the first kick. Hard to explain but it won't go past idle. Tried replacing coil, plug, cleaned the carb, and checked exhaust. The only way I got anything out of it was with a stator plate from an older one. only 3 wires tho, and had no lights. resistance values on my 5 wire plate seemed within spec. Totally lost. thought I understood these better. Rebuilt at least a dozen 2 stroke motors, but I have no clue where to go from here. I'll buy the parts, just seems foolish to waste on stupid unnecessary things. Any thoughts would be great.

sounds kinnda dumb but ill ask any ways! You got the slide and needle in the carb in the groove?

I appreciate the thought but I was already way past that. I've put lots of time into two strokes. Rebuilt carbs so many times I can't remember. Found the problem an hour after I created the post. Apparently on the 03 and newer blasters, they have the parking break on the clutch side of the bars. If that stupid little piece of metal is even a little bit pulled, It causes a 500 ish rpm rev limiter. close the switch, works sweet. Can't believe thats what my problem was. But I can promise I will never forget that. Burned up a tank of gas yesterday with no issue. About to go give it another rip. Thanks.

I would try checking your reeds. I had a reed drop into the intake came off the body and it would idle but as soon has you touched the throtle it died. sh*t flowed like a river. I tore the whole engine apart almost trying to figure it out. Goodluck

i would check the TORS too,i have a 03 blaster i put a extended swingarm on and after that it would idle great but nothing past idle,i disconnected the parking brake and it has a sensor for the TORS so you can not go past idle without the e brake hooked up,i just unpluged the wire for the sensor and it ran great.
