i'm wondering if anyone is able to diagnose a problem or hazard a guess , currently my quad bike is not working , been on it for the past couple of days, it's a 2 stroke engine , tried different spark plugs and there is a spark for definate there , fuel is in the chamber , and coming out the exhaust too when attempting to bump start, so there is spark and fuel there , but it's not even attempting to run when being bump started. there is compression there, air is getting in to the chamber. i'm thinkin that water may have a possible effect as i went through some large puddles the other day and that evening it stopped workin , however i got it working again , and when it was stopped it would not work again , last night it was working too , but now there is nothing at all.
any help would be greatly apprecciated.

Check your reeds. The pedals should firmly seat in the cage. If there is a gap or they are warped, try flipping them over, however, this is only a temporary fix, buy new when you can. Use locktite on the pedal mounting screws or you will find them dancing on the piston. Dump the old gas and clean the screen at the end of the petcock in the fuel tank. Replace fuel line from tank to carb with clear tube, NEW []clamps, NEW inline filter. This allows a visual of the fuel mix color, sediment or water particulate.

thanks for the help , just a quicky but how would i go about accessing the redd valves? any step by step guides etc?
cheers

Sure, it is very easy and takes about 10 minutes. Unclamp the carburetor at both ends and lay it aside with the throttle cable attached. If you look in the head where the front of the carb was mounted, you will see the reeds. Remove the 4 mounting bolts holding the reed cage and boot and pull out the reed cage. Now that the reeds are out of the way, you can look inside your cylinder and look for scratches, damage, and carbon buildup. Also slowly move the piston up and down using the kick start lever and inspect your piston. whatever you do, never tip the carb upside down. The fine particulate of crap in the bowl will plug the tiny orifices and jet holes. If you want to inspect the carb or clean it out, unscrew the bowl rightside up. make sure the float glides freely and there is no damage to the needle valve. Make sure the jets are still hanging there and and are not clogged with a grain of sand. Make sure the slide moves freely and the needle clip is still in place. Feel free to ask more questions.
