I was riding my blaster last week and it died after landing a jump. I checked the spark plug and its firing. I check the reed valves and there fine. I pulled the flywheel thinking maybe the timing was off. The stator is stock so no room for it to move. I sprayed a little starting fluid in the cylinder to see if it would start ( maybe a fuel problem if so...). It didn't start. I can kick it about 10 times and it has kind of a back fire / compression blow by sound. Can anyone help?

you check compression? you could have messed up the cylinder or head gasket. just check compression and make sure all bolts are tight on the jug.

just a guess.

Yes I did check all the bolts. I don't have a compression gauge though. I pulled the spark plug out, put my finger over the hole and kicked it a couple of times. It still has compression but obviously I can't tell if I have lost any because I don't have a gauge.

rent one from auto zone and check to make sure your getting fuel! also try cleaning your carb really well!you might of knocked some dirt loose or somthing!

Sorry about the short reply, I had an important phone call. Is it possible for a wire to be loose causing it not to run but still have fire on the spark plug?

Even if it was a fuel problem the starting fluid would atleast make the engine turn over a few times.

OK, I'll try that tomorrow. I may have suck a piece of dirt in and clogged the air jets.

Ok, I rented a compression gauge from Auto Zone at lunch and ran home to check it, 51 lbs. I'm going to search the threads to see how much compression I should have.

That's what I was afraid of. I'm going to check it one more time when I get off work. I have a Big Bore kit. Does that change anything or do I still need 90 or above?

90 is still ok for a big bore. But after u rebuild it u should have atleast 125psi or more. I am running 145psi and i dont have a high comp piston or anything special.

Man this sucks!!!!! I came home hoping to get more compression by kicking it a couple more times........nope...55 psi. Time to do that rebuild.

Thanks for all the help everyone! I'll post some pictures when I get everything back together.
