So my dad and I started taking my one case apart to get the good crank out
this is my first time and he has done quiet a few so I went to him for help. we got it all apart and got to the side that sticks in and to get the crank out he put the nut back on the thread and proceeded to smack it with a hammer. Well the end with the threads bent a little bit. Wen i asked him if that is no good now he told me it will be fine that it only holds the nut on and wont affect any thing because the part down below the treads is still straight.

So will it be ok????????

That is NOT the right way to remove the crankshaft. A simple flip through the service manual would have told you that. The joke is one you, a $15 harmonic balancer puller would have save you the $50+ it's going to take to buy a new crankshaft. A bent stator thread end will *probably* cause the stator to wobble and hit the coils located underneath.

Generally, the stator side is the "thrust" side which is a tight enough fit to keep the crank from bouncing around between the bearings.

It doesn't matter which side the threads are bent, one side has the primary drive gear and the other holds the stator. Either side bent will require replacement.

That sucks. I do have another one in the other case I have but the baring is shot. Is there a way to take the good rod and barings out of the bent crank and put them in the other crank that has the bad bearing? do you know of any videos that show how to do this?:(

The skill needed to do a crank is beyond 99.9% of us on this forum, not to mention the machines and tooling. Reguardless it's still cheaper to buy a new crank than rebuid it because of labor cost.

Was he able to get the nut off? Might be able to clean the threads up with a thread file. You only have a 50-50 chance at best that the crank will work.
