I did a search on this and wasn't completely sure. Can cr125 reeds be mounted to a stock cylinder? I am interested in doing this on my wife's bike. Mods in sig. Then I can put the vf3's on my spare bike. It's a cr reed cage or vf4's. I would rather the cr reeds. What do you guys think?

We just did this on the +6 stroker. We used 1997 CR reeds, cage and boot. Keep in mind that the boot is made for larger carbs. We had to cut .115” off both sides of the intake to get the reeds to fit in the cylinder. We then added that same amount of material to the outside of the cylinder for a larger surface area to seal against. The next problem is the tip of the cage makes contact with the intake port divider. We made a .250” spacer plate to go between the cylinder and the cage. When you get this far, it bolts right in.

What kind of gains does one get from the cr125 reed cage mod, aside from being able to run a bigger carb with the cr125 boot.

When compared to the stock cage, the CR reed area is about 15% larger. The cage is a much better design and incorporates a divider and stuffers. The stuffers will help make up for some of the material we removed when we trenched the cases. Not worth the trouble IMO when you can buy V-Force reeds pretty inexpensive.

That's the info I was looking for. Thanks Ken. I would hate to grind on this beautiful cylinder you sent back to me. So your opinion is that the cr reed cage is comparable to the vf4's? You did a 240 sleeve and a +4 hot rods crank on mine.

I have a cr reeds on my blaster with boyseen carbon fiber reeds.and its a pretty big gain because i had to get new reeds.and i just threw stock till kames could get some in and well lets just.say any gain is better than none!
