im confused, i was looking into getting a port and polish and everyone says ur p&p depends on the function of the pipe. i do a lot of trail and track riding and i have a fmf system. Is the fmf good? and what is the "function"?

reguardless of what people are gonna post after me, the FMF system is fine. Its not the best if you are going to want do a big bore, and other major motor mods, but if you are going to keep it pretty stock, a FMF will be fine, and any builder doing a P&P will be able to make it work well with your FMF pipe.

The timing at which the pipe resonates the unburned fuel/air charge back into the cylinder during scavenging needs to be matched by the exhaust port timing. The fmf is a decent choice for a stock or mildly modified engine, just not suited well for aggressive portwork or increased displacement.

i would agree with that ...and only add that each pipe functions best at certain rpm ranges ..the pipe and porting must work in unison to match the reverse wave so you would not for example want a trail pipe like fmf on a dune port or say a highreving rdz drag pipe on a mild trail port ,they must work together for best results and widest powerband for the target rpm area akthough on a blaster most any porting thats done correctly will offer some good improvment becuase the layout is so bad on them
