Ok my bike and friends bike run real strong and I just installed anew piston and brought home a compression tester and with the bike cold we both get 80 psi ????? is this normal or do I need to run the bike for some time and test.

I would get a different tester to confirm those readings.

80 psi is highly suspicious, they'll barely crank at that pressure. You need 110 psi to run well (and that's on the low side).

ummm did you only kick it once or somthing? you should be kicking it atleast 15 times. also some low quality gauges wont read right if there upsidedown so try holdin it in your hand when you dheck it.

WTF??? I thought I posted earlier in this thread asking if you was holding the throttle open and how many times did he kick it. I don't know what happen to my post. That's odd.
