okay so ive searched and searched but not what i need
so i havent done a compression test as i am trying not to rebuild till i have some more money
is there any way ,othere than blown rings/piston that my engine could lose compression???
please help

could be worn out rings, hole in piston, blown head gasket, possibly a hole in the cylinder. many things. it will probably need a bore and piston next size up.

yeah i run a br8es, but my compression is so far down it barely drives, i'm pretty sure i can just hone it out and replace at stock bore

The best way is to check the tolerance between the wall and the piston skirt. If you simply hone and replace the same size piston, you are only looking for trouble and you will find it.

yea i deff wouldnt sugest doing just a hone because i did that when i first bought my blaster i honed it out and put a new set of stock bore rings on it and it ran good for a few months then one day it blew my side skirt of the piston on the exhaust side right off and i had to tear down my whole bottom end and clean out everything

yup, same exact thing happened to me! def go w/ the bore up and new piston. no question about it.
it's cool that now i've taken my engine apart and have some cool new tools, but i could've saved myself a LOT of time and even more money if i'd have just bored up in the first place.

update
so i took evrything off for a compression test today
a whopping 30 psi
so i take the head off to look in there and theres nothing visibally wrong on top of it just looks dirtyish i cant move the piston back and forth at all
the head gasket looks pretty good except one area that looks like it had some blowby
is it possible to only have 30 psi with only the head gasket blown?
or is there something else im overlooking
also is there a compression release switch on these models
please help winter is coming to fast

30 pounds ? another question is what kind of engine setup are you running ,is this a +4stroker as your user name implies ?what are your mods

sorry about the name it was meant to be piston +4 not stroker
i bought it this way
boyseen reeds
.040 over bore
stock front pipe w/fmf powercore 2
other than that i dont know of anything
oh yeah a uni filter that looks like hell

i think it would be somewheres around 120psi but im not sure either

89 custom,,,what other problems should i look for ,thats the original question im asking here

it doesnt change when you overbore. you can mil the head to get morecompression. but your aiming for around 130-150. anything over 150 you need a high octane fuel.

would the reeds cause me to lose compresion if they were junk?
i really doubt that the headgasket is blown from the looks but im thinkin i warped something
