Complete rebuild help

Hello guys,

My name is Devin I'm new to this forum and blasters/2 strokes. I traded for a 2003 blaster with a supposed list of aftermarket modifications. I am mechanically inclined and have been searching this forum for about a month now finding useful information. I have a few questions if anyone is willing to help.

I am attempting to rebuild the entire engine as affordable as possible looking for a cross between a mx and trail setup able to keep up with some 350s maybe with good overall power and reliability. I was told it had a 240 kit but has a stock head so I'm not sure without pulling it apart.

I am looking to rebuild because when I got it, it was and still is pouring out white smoke and the DG silencer is filled with oil. So since there is an issue somewhere why not rebuild everything.

Anyways below is a list of supposed mods and again I am looking for a walk though/list of parts I will need for a full mx/trail increased performance rebuild. Thanks guys!

well if the white smoke stinks then you got a main bearing seal leak.and thats not good cause you gotta take it all apart to split the cases and replace them.
For a trail pipe Id go with DMC or toomey and a set of 50 dollar Boyesen Pro series reeds to help out the bottom dmc gives more low/mid and toomey helps everywhere like an fmf but more up top.
To know if its a 240 kit is to get a micrometer and measure the bore size or if it's a vitos 240 is the cylinder and head silvery/white? To be honest a lot of Craigslist deals say there a 240 when there just bored 40 over stock. Pictures will help a lot when you get time. other than that you can get the bike ported and polished and such but you strike me as the guy who just wants it to run right.
 
Thanks for the replies! I'm pretty sure it's just bore.40 over stock it's def not a Vito's or LA kit that's for sure. Basically what I want is listed below I just need to know what all parts are needed and what all I need to get done and any supporting mods for more power budget is 1200 or less

Dif gearing sprockets etc
Dmc with fmf fatty
Bigger carb?
Air filter directly on carb

I forgot to add hack job of tors supposedly removed and oil injection removed and mixed 32:1

Just looking for quick yet reliable build for local off road park trails, mx, sand etc

Sure you want a 240? Can do the 240 several ways aftermarket cyl & head or have 240 sleeve installed in your jug. Will get more power from AM cyl as they have better port design. You can get nearly as much with a little work on the stock cyl. Head mod/ carb.
 
I'm not sure what I want. I want a reliable set up and for it to be fast with power for trails
 
You can have your cylinder ported and your head rechambered fairly cheap compared to a 240 setup. Then add the aftermarket pipe of your choice. Any change of air flow to or from the motor will require a change in you main jet. When you change your gearing be sure to change both sprockets and the chain at the same time.
