I'm putting my engine back together and I have a question about the clutch plates. A friend of mine said he thought the clutch steels and friction plates had to be lined up a certain way. I dont see anything about lining them up in my book. The steels each have one raised spot on them and the friction plates have some markings on two tabs. Does the clutch steels and plates have to be clocked and lined up a certain way? I dont know anything about the clutch, it came on the quad.

yep, those raised tabs on the steels go at 12 o'clock, then 3, then 6, 9, 12 again and so on and so on
the fibers dont matter i believe

and dont forget to align the 2 marks (dots) on the clutch basket and pressure plate
