Clutch Not Disengaging

I just picked up a blaster from my best friend. He wrecked it, and sheared the clutch cable off. I got a new one and perch and lever, and got it all hooked up, and the clutch engagement arm on the left side of the motor, it moves from stop to stop, but with no resistance, and the clutch wont disengage. My old XR80 did this too, and it was the clutch fork that overextended inside the clutch cover and slipped off of the engagement arm, and was doing the same thing this blaster is doing. Now am I onto the the problem here or is there something else I should be looking at? As far as replacing/refreshing the clutch, is it easy for someone who has replaced one before? Anything I should look out for or watch closely? Thanks.

Awesome. Also found out that my friend welded the freakin kicker to the shaft!! And it was a good weld so idk if I can grind it off. I know the kicker has to come off to get the clutch cover off, but is there a way to retap the kicker shaft, or will I need to get a new one with the weld thats on there, even if its ground down.

something similar happen to me once. the clutch lever had no resistance and thier is two shafts one connects to the clutch basket and the other to the clutch lever thats goes into the case. in between those two rods thier is a ball and it welded itself to one of the shafts, cant remember wich one it was though. so that is something to look for to. if your not sure what i'm talking about here is a link that has a picture of those pieces.
