is there a way to open up the top end of the motor to clean out the soot and junk inside WITHOUT having to replace anything if not necissary, can i reuse the gaskets and everything if still in good shape, and just dismantle and clean it, and what chemicles are safe to use to clean these parts?? i just dont have the money to do a complete rebuild yet, will in a couple months...thanks

most will tell you to use new gaskets because the head gasket is a squish gasket, ive re-used both gaskets before but i used starting fluid to make sure they werent leaking when it was together, but really theres nothing "cleaning it out" will do or improve, the only thing that will be dirty will be the top of the piston will have a little carbon on it but thats it

Yeah it would just be a waste of time to do because it will not help with getting more power or something like that

there could be buildup in a few places in the topend i just changed out my whole topend new piston cylinder an head an my old cylinder has a bunch of crap burnt to the exhaust port an piston so there can be carbon other places than just on the top of the piston and the top squish band is the only one i would say to replace the bottom can be reused if its not in bad shape

ok thanks, i was just planning on taking off the very top cover at this time to clean everything and inspect the piston and the bore part or whatever its called..lol and make sure the piston and crap is still within specs, since it a 95 blasty

mine was still on the stock bore and still looks great the only thing wrong was that the rings were worn out and there was carbon caked on the piston crown and the exhaust port is nasty

ya my exhaust is filthy ive been trying to figure out how to clean the entire thing, if i can just take it off and soke it in something for a while then take a circle brush and clean the rest out, not sure if that possible, i know it being so sooted up is robbing me of my wonderful power lol thanks everyone

i actully just got a bottle and was gonan try it, it says its for 2 strokes, and i looked it up on google and htis guy with a 2 stroke plane engine used it and it was blowing all sorts of carbon out the exhaust

so heres my question on the sea foam ive used it on my cars smokes out my entire block HAHA people thought my car was on fire lol....do i pour the recomended amount in just the gas tank or take off the filter and pour it little by little though the intake part of the carburator, i need to clean the carbon in the engine, but mainly just the exhaust, thats the biggest thing need cleaning, thnxs

my guess would be the combustion area and exhaust port, i was gonna wait till my bike was almost outta gas then mix a litte bit with the gas, i dont know if i wanna try running it with this stuff straight might blow up.

hmm.. id like to knoe the answer to this also seafoam is good sh*tt, vust like marval mystery oil

ok heres what i did...first i drained ALL the fuel out of the tank, then i put about 1/4 of the seafoam can into the gas tank, put in about 1 gal of gas back into the tank, close the cap shake the tank a little to mix it up good, then i took off the air filter added a small amount maybe 2-3 cap fulls, then put the filter back on dont screw all the way back down you will need to add more in a few, start engine with FULL choke on, let it warm up then use a funnel or something to add more seafoam into the intake, and make sure to get ready to rev the engine some to keep engine going, DO NOT let it die!!! your exhaust should be smoking really good by now, then after about 5-7 mins, shut off engine to let the sea foam soak into all the carbon and crap, let it sit maybe 10-15 mins depending how dirty ur exhaust and engine is, then start it back up let it warm back up and let it idle for about 15 mins, then shut it off, let it sit again and so on, and you should notice a difference, my exhaust isnt really clean but alot of the carbon is gone, and rides so much smoother, i might take off the exhaust and take a circle wire brush to clean the rest..hope this helps....oh cant stress this enough!!! DO THIS PROCEDURE OUTSIDE!!!!!! you will get ALOT of smoke while doing this, my engine temps stayed stable during this, so go at it..lol

seafoam make any type of vehicle smoke a lot when u use it, dont think it does have lubricant in it, but all i know is my quads running so much smoother now since i did that

if it doesnt have lube in it im not sticking it in my gas tank its not good to be running lean like that imo
