I finally got my engine tore down, getting it split and cleaned Thursday, send the cylinder and head to Ken, now I'm gonna work on the fuel delivery system, I took pics of inside the tank, what would be best to get this cleaned it looks HORRIBLE!!! I was thinking mineral spirits or maybe diesel, or is it better just to get a new tank? this bike was really neglected the carb looks like it was buried in the ground, I will post a thread on that too here in a while. Thanks guys!!!

Well it wont hurt to try some diesel/kerosene or i would say carb cleaner but that could get expensive. I would try the diesel and se how it goes. Sureely try cleani g it befre buying a new one if you have the time.

Can't ell what is in there, but might need something a little stronger. Though a couple trys with dish soap and water, let dry, then couple shots with laquer thinner.

Gasoline is a pretty good cleaner and needs no flushing out after use.

Take the tank off, remove the petcock and block the hole.

Put in a pint of fuel and a handful of marbles or ball bearings on Shake the tank vigorously.

Pour out fuel and crap and rinse with fresh fuel!
