Years ago, my friend rolled my Blaster, which then free-wheeled down the trail in neutral and slammed into a tree on the Right A-Arm. This quad is not my primary ride, I bought it for my (now ex) girlfriend and friends to ride, so that's why it's taken this long for me to get around to fixing it. At the time, I just adjusted the tie rods to line the wheels back up as a temporary solution. My 400EX is currently waiting for parts due to another mishap, so I took the Blaster riding this weekend, obviously it doesn't handle well (due to the bent frame) and it annoyed the crap out of me. So I need to fix it, I'm seeking solutions.

Has anyone ever tried straightening a quad frame with an automotive frame puller?

Or, do I have to strip the thing down and have a new section of tubing welded in with reinforcing plates (that should've been there in the first place) added to keep this from happening again.

Obviously the 2nd choice is the best overall solution, but I'm cheap and lazy ;-)

If thats all that happened, thats not bad, you should have seen my chassis! LOL.... In my opinion, you could get by, straightening it and then reinforcing it somehow, but because Im Anal, I would cut out the section and replace the tubing, using a short piece of tubing slighty smaller than the chassis tube, inside the joint, if its in the middle of the tubing run to help strengthen your welded area. What I did is found a chassis for $20 that had bottom damage, cut off the entire bottom, and replaced the bottom with the only good part of my chassis and rewelded it in the stock welded areas (at the ends of the tubes).

Good luck!

Follow the link in my SIG if you want to see what my chassis looked like!
