so i was told today that if i move my needle up that it will be the same as jeting it is this true it was told to me by someone the races dirt bike and quads but i want other opinions

No its not. You have a pilot jet and a main jet. You can use the needle position to help tune the mid range along with the proper size pilot jet but it will NOT compensate for wrong jet sizes.

In a nutshell.

Pilot jet and airscrew adjusts idle and affects up to 1/4 throttle.

Needle affects 1/4 - 3/4 throttle.

Main jet affects 3/4 and up.

There is a little overlap in the circuits to provide smooth transition.
