i got a 1996 yamaha blaster that i jus recently rebuilt. all i did was put new piston and rings, anyways i bought a used carb. off ebay and put it on and started it up and it revs really high and wen u pull the choke out it seems to RUN fine but wont go any where wen in gear. the plunger with the needle in the carb will not go down all the way so that i can adjust the idle with the screw. i thought that might have somethin to do with it. any answers would be nice

trying to get it running as soon as possible. new to this site

welcome to the site and yea if the slide isnt going down all the way it has the same effect as hitting the gas..
get the slide problem fixed and you should be good to go..

what are all the stock adjusments for a stock carb. and how would u fix the slide to go down all the way

Idle screw by the tors box
Air screw (1 and a half or 2 turns out)
Needle Clip(position) (normally 3 or 2)

Make shure that the slide is not worn out or catching on any thing.
What needle position is the carb in?

P.S. Make sure that your cable is not to tight or stuck

when letting the slide down into the barrel of the carb, make sure the needle is going down into the hole on the base of the carb, look inside from the filter side, help it into the hole with your finger if ya have to, then blip the throttle a few times to make sure it's workin right before you reinstall it, and you do know that the slide only goes in one way???, theres a slot on the slide that must line up with the little pin inside, on the kicker side
