Fixing my friends 02 blaster with stock carb. He put like TWICE the amount of transmission oil in his machine (thats what the yamaha "tech" told him to do) and it started leaking oil from an unknown place.

I told him I'd fix it four months ago, and he finally gets it to my house and says that when you turn the fuel on, gas starts leaking out of the bottom of the carb.

I cleaned the carb (dirtiest carb ever!) and drained the oil and put the proper amount back in. The oil seems to be ok now, but where was it leaking from, and is it ok to run now? But the carb is still dripping gas out the bottom. What did I not clean? I have a Keihn carb, so the stock one was a little new to me. And that oil injection hose is a biotch. Help?:">

i had the same problem thats why i got my blaster soo cheep cus he thought it was messed up ok the lil tab on the float u have to bend it very little at a time and u might ahve to take the carb off like 10 times in a row i had to do this and u bend the tab to where the float is guna be lower then before where it shuts off the gas hope this helps

yup...blasterjarred correct..The float is stuck up too much.. plus if you fill the oil too much it will blow out the crank case breather tube, mounted in under the front headlight and hood assembly on the frame( by the steering column)

Verify that the float height is correct and that it moves freely. Also place the float in some liquid(preferably gas) and make sure it still floats, I have seen them loose their boyancy(sp). If all that checks out and you still have a leak you will need to replace the float needle and seat.

DAMNIT! When I took the carb apart to clean it I thought "I should probably check the float hieght...nah, it looks fine, it just needs to be cleaned." Now I have to pull that sh*t apart all over again. Thanks for the input, I will let you know.
