Can I sandblast flywheel? (Kx250)

Hi,

I've got a rusted flywheel from a kawasaki kx 250, I want to make it look clean again, can I sandblast the flywheel? Would it mess with the magnets? I will tape up the inside and threads/part where the crank comes through,

If not what would be a good way to make it look good again?

No matter which method, I'd remove magnets. Be sure to mark everything exactly how it goes. I would suggest glass bead or soda, less aggressive heat warp.
