I noticed fire jumping from the coil and it turned out the 2 ears that the coil bolts to are broken. Any one ever had this happen? Whats a good way to fix it?

Mine did the same thing , I just welded the tabs back and put a support plate next to it . I also ran a ground wire from the coil bolt to the frame.
Just unplugging ALL elec components works. Ground welder as close as possible to weld area.
I was thiking abour drilling holes in the frame and makin a spacer that will make the coil sit off the frame, since that bracket isnt really made from much anyways. Would that work?
I wouldn't drill holes in the frame, could cause stress risers (then cracks) Drilling an existing bracket would be fine.
