you should feel instant throttle response and snappiness with the reeds and a higher top speed with the sprocket, but remember the reeds will tend to make engine run a little on the lean side so you might need to rejet!
cool... i will be getting a 30mm carb next month... i figured the reeds would provide a more noticeable gain with the stock carb as opposed to a 30mm carb with stock reeds.
hope i actually feel the difference.
so.... as far as jetting, you really think i'll have to redo it? i have the dxp360 in now... 2 turns out on the mix screw.... and i am getting great colored plugs...
your gonna love those reeds man, i put a project blaster air box, boyeson pro reeds and jetted to 280 and all i can say is that my quad went from sounding and reving like a quad, to now sounding and reving out like a yz 250 dirt bike ! I am very happy, it made it a totally different quad.
actually according to Boyesen, their reeds "tend to make engines run slightly rich on the main jet, and slightly lean on the pilot jet." so its not really a matter of putting in a larger main. They recommend turning the air screw in 1/4 to 1/2 turns and doing a main jet plug check.
i guess i just need to buy some jets and play with it....
i understand jetting for the most and i know what i am looking for in a plug color... i was just hoping for an idea of where to start, as i do not know what size a dxp360 really is when compared to standard mikuni jet....
260? 280?
ha.... oh well... i know stock is 230... so i guess i will just get 270 - 300 mains... sound good?
270 through 310 prolly, i know before i had a fmf setup i run a full toomy exhaust and they recommended me to run a 310 with their pipe and with the air box lid off. after installing fmf, they told me to run a 280, so i guess there is just allot of factors to look at ,and with jetting i think you just gotta play around a bit and find what does the best in YOUR MACHINE
