alright guys so i was riding the other night in the snow on the slick roads.. i was gettin it in 4th gear wide open and let it run itself down in the rpms but not to low, went to grab 3rd for a stop sign and it shut off and wouldnt start back up.. it was locked up for about a minute after it just shut off but the kick broke free. the wheels never locked thankfully, just the kick start. anyway i got towed home and let it sit in the yard, came home today and it started right up but has a gnarly knock in my bottom end... i put some more oil in it and it helped but it was no cigar.. the plug looked a little rich but also had like a watery substance on it, kinda hard to tell.. it rode alright for the little i did today but im a little concerned about what the noise is and if anyone had good insight to what i should look for when i tear into it. thanks guys you are a good help

Definitely don't need to be starting it if it's making noise and acting like that. You could make it a lot worse if somethings loose. The parts in the bottom end move at incredible speeds and you could tear up a lot of things if it's loose. Definitely advise a bottom end rebuild. If it's making noise like that you should be able to either see something wrong immediately or move the parts inside manually and find what's wrong.

If it kicked over after sitting , it sounds like you seized the piston. It probably stuck the skirt and broke free after cooling. If pounding on it in cold weather without richer jetting, you might have found it's durability limit!
