The clutch springs on the pressure plates need to be torqued to 4.3 ft*lb correct? My torque wrench is in in*lb, So do i just times 4.3 times 12 and get 51.6 in*lb? What would i be torquing to is the main question.

What do i torque the kick start, and the clutch side case too?

And if any of you have read my previous thread. I think I welded the inner rod and ball together in my clutch, since i can't get the ball out. So i have to split the cases to get to that. And My idle gear washer like fell off and the engine ate it so i have to replace that. While I have the cases split, do you guys think i should rebuild it? I know someones been in there before because i have a Hot Rod crank. But the PO was a schmuck, so there bound to be something wrong. I don't know the last time it was looked at.

But my friend said the last time he had to KX rebuilt they had to like rebalance his cases. And some other mumbo jumbo. Anyone know what that's about? I wouldn't have access to one of those.

If i end up rebuilding the bottom end, I'd like to do it myself if possible, just for a learning experience. But do you guys think i could do it? And would it be cost effective? Would i save money, or just be better off sending it to Kens?

Thanks in advance!

Case = 7.2 ft lb

Kickcrank = 47 ft lb.

Dunno about the conversion, my math is poor.

If the compression is good and there are no nasty noises, you may not need a rebuil.

What do you mean the motor ate the idle gear washer, did it get mangled?

You can do the work yourself, but you need some special tools and some patience. It is rewarding and will save you money.

Re-balancing cases is shure mumbo jumbo talk, never heard of a case going out of balance.
The only time I would worry about my cases being out of balance would be when I attempt a quadruple backflip.

Thanks for those, And i ended up googleing it. And yeah, it got chopped in half, it's just a sliver washer Scot said it was the idle gear washer.
