I gotta question for ya people. I blew a hole through the bottom of my engine from a chunk of piston. I replaced both cases and cylinder and crank and piston. Stupid me I was in a hurry to put it back together soI used RTV gasket maker for a case sealant. I replaced both crank seals and it still burns a good amount of gear oil. could it be the RTV i used?

i use rtv ultra grey on the cases. sounds like a bad crank seal or the cases didnt seal between the cankcase and the transmission. did you leak test?

I replaced both crank seals this week and still burns oil. I used RTV blue. Idk how good it is but I'm pretty sure I didt miss any spots. No I didn't do a leak test how would I do that?

Did you clean and lap the cases? I'm not to sure of blue rtv can withstand oil and fuel. Use some threebond or yamabond, thats what its designed for.

I cleaned the cases thoroughly and I was about to order three bond I just wanted to hear what you guys have to say thanks for the help I'll let you know how it goes!

RTV is not recommended to bond case halves, it may not withstand the effects of oil/fuel and may break down and create an air leak.

I would be removing it and using the correct bonding agent.
