i have 2001 yamaha blaster bored .50 over, fmf gold series exhaust, boysen reeds. i bought the wheeler off a friend not running. i cleaned the carb, put new spark plug, new coil, put bigger jets in it. it has spark and is getting gas. but it takes forever to start and backfires a little while trying to start it, once its running its hard to keep going and it wont rev out at all, barely has enough power to ride it . it has good compression and the exhaust isnt clogged. i dont know what is wrong wit it, so if anyone has any better ideas please let me know haha

What was the exact compression reading?

Did you put in the correct spark plug (BRE8S I believe is the one....could be wrong)?

What jets did you change?

What jet size did you go from and to?

What led you to believe you needed to increase the jet sizes?

ill have to go recheck the compression to be sure, and i changed the main get from a 230 to a 270 because i was told you should atleast be running a 280 with a fmf exhaust . and even when it had the 230 in it it still had the same problem then.

so should i pull the flywheel and put a diff stator on it? i have another parts engine that i could rob one off of.

Is the spark blue or yellow? Was where the coil mounts clean bare metal or rusty crap? How is chassie ground? All conections clean and tight?
Eliminate all those then ohm stator. If you decide to swap stator you MUST use only Blaster flywheel puller, not a 2-3 jaw or hammer. Inspect flywheel key. Hell, make sure flywheel is tight.
