So i warmed up my blaster on a cold day and after warming it up rode it down the street. once in 2nd gear it revved high and just died. it would not start after that. it now starts if i leave it for a couple hours but it will just die after idling for a while and wont start. i figured i did a bad gas/oil mixture so i drained it out and put a new mixture in and i still have the same problem? anybody have any idea whats wrong?
thanks

havent done any yet. im gonna clean the carb out tomorrow when i get time. do you think thats the first thing i should do? sorry im new to four wheelers

To find out what's wrong, you need to do the basic checks. Check compression. Check for spark.check for fuel. Get a repair manual and start checking stuff. If you still can't find what's wrong, you will have better info so we can help better.

so today i cleaned my carb very in depth. i took out the spark and tested it. it had a spark but the plug looked a little black. i took out all the old gas and and put new mix in. i reinstalled the carb and put everything back together. sounds like its coming soooo close to starting but it wont turn over

tested my compression today and it was at 110. then i put a new spark plug in and voila it started! except now it idles at an extremely high rev. it looks like the previous owner took out the tors therefore when i turn the screw it does absolutely nothing. could this be something with the throttle cable that connects to the top of the carb? i had trouble putting it back on so i would not be too shocked if it was

As for the cap, make sure it had the rubber gasket in it and is in good shape . Make sure the threads are not stripped and it on all the way.

im also thinking it might be an air leak or something now from when i put it back together. also the guy i bought it off of has the air filter hooked directly up to the carb and not in the seat. if that means anything

Sorry for so many posts. I was at work and had to be quick. The filter don't matter running wise. Just don't hit any water. Check your carb slide first. It has to in just the rite way .

no problem and alright i will check that today. does the throttle cable have to go all the way through the spring and into the slit in the slide?

x2 for the air leak. I have the same problem and I think my engine leaks between the two halves of the crank case. I'll let you know if the problem is solved when I have it done.
