Hey guys this is my first post and I have a couple questions. I just go my 02' blaster last friday and when I was driving it sunday, the rear carriage bolt?, it came out and twisted with the rear sprocket which twisted the bolt 90 degrees and also broke both the chain tensioners. I got the parts ordered but is there any way to keep it from happening again and has anybody ever seen or heard of that happening before?! It doesn't seem normal.

My other questions are is 14/40 a good sprocket setup? cause thats what I also ordered with the parts. and is the oil pump prone to failing? I only ask because I see almost everybody i meet has an oil block off kit. Thanks! (sorry if this seems like a rushed post, im in school so i don't got a lot of time)

yeah i had the bottom carriage bolt come out and bend with the sprocket just like you did, i think when i tightened the chain i forgot to tighten it... yours was probably loose. its a pain to get out, at least mine was. put some threadlocker on the bolt if your really worried about it happening again, but if it's tight it shouldn't come out. i like my 14/40 gearing, but if ur motor is basically stock i would stick with the stock gears till you get a good pipe, reeds, filter, no airbox lid, and maybe a few other mods like milled head, port and polish, etc. b/c the motor as it is stock doesn't really have the power to top it out all that easily which defeats the purpose of the 14/40 gearing.

i have an 02 blaster with the oil injection still on it and an 04 with it taken off, one thing about the injection is it mixes really rich, like 25:1. taking it off enables you to run leaner mixes which results in slightly more power and less money spent on injection oil. the gear which runs the injector is plastic, so it is weak and prone to breaking. if it does go, you really don't know till you fry your motor, so taking it off and premixing is really a safer route.

Thanks. I'll buy an oil block off kit and do that for security reasons then. and I was told not to put thread sealer on the bolt since it should be a little bit loose for tightening the chain tensioners. But I think I'll put some on anyways since I don't want this to happen again. I'll also hang off on the sprockets until I get the time and money (after I graduate) to buy the modifications I want. Thanks for answering!I:I
