Blaster jug has grooves, can they be bored out?

i picked up a parts bike, the guy ran the bike without a air filter so this thing was full of dirt all the way into the crank case. I'm gonna have to have someone split the case for me bc I have never done it before and I don't want to mess it up, I have to get the jug and head machined in the meantime, I took some pics of the jug I'm gonna upload them I wanted to know if the grooves could be bored out, or do I need to look for a new jug? Thank u

So re-sleeve? Trash? New cylinder? I was thinking bout doing the big bore kit fron CT Racing, but just need to see if this jug has any chance?
 
You will need to know the bore size its on now. Anything is possible. Getting that cylinder ported (if it still has over bores available) will easily take care of that exhaust port "snag". What are the numbers on the piston?

Any experience with aftermarket jugs? I see them on eBay the entire kit for $120. Any thoughts I will post a pic of the piston here in a sec
 
I know what you speak of. It looks like they would work well, ...HOWEVER... they will need the ports chamfered. Bottom line... Its hard to beat an OEM Yamaha cylinder in quality... used or new.
 
That piston is 66mm ...that's the first size, or in other words the size that the cylinder is stock when new.
With that much ingested dirt its probably hogged out another two sizes past that. Anything is fixable. Are you building it for yourself, or to dump on someone else?
 
"Just say no" to green paper gaskets on the rebuild, OEM or Cometic only !

FYI: for you or anyone reading this. Clean the outside of an engine before tearing it apart.

Ya i know you got dirt in the crankcase, but you're going get dirt in the clutch side and transmission.

JMHO, your results may, and will vary.
