Just rebuilding blaster and cant figure out why clutch is grabbing. It will grab and eventually start spinning. I have adjusted every way possible and clutch assembly is good. I am stumped:-/
yeah, filed down the little grooving that was there, but clutch works great dry,but as soon as you put some oil on it the start sticking. now I'm really confused because the friction disks look good
The outer had a little grooving, inside is fine. I tried a 10 w 30 and it was still grabbing. I'm wondering if the inner baskes is warped or maybe the end cap is warped. Like I said when the clutch is dry it works fine but as soon as i lube them up it grabbs.
make sure your adjuster screw in the middle of the clutch basket is adjusted right. If your adjuster screw is adjusted too far in/out it won't put the proper pressure on the plates. your clutch arm has a arrow on it make sure it is aligned with the arrow on the case by the clutch arm by adjusting the cable then adjust the clutch basket adjustment screw until you feel resistance then back it off 1/8 of an inch . if you do that and you can't get it adjusted and it still grabs it's possible you lost the ball that goes in the shaft between the clutch arm and the clutch basket adjusting rod/screw.
and the discs are supposed to be soaked overnite in oil before putting it together...so if you did it right... it should have never been run dry.... a lot of car oil has anti friction additives.. motorcycle GEAR oil doesn't. if you used regular car oil with additives.. it's probably time to buy new disks. I use amsoil 80wt gear oil.
