Hey guys, I tried searching but couldn't come up with the exact info I'm looking for..

I'm restoring a bike for a friend, it's a 1986 IT 200.. The engine has some extensive damage, I've been working on bikes for 25 years and this is probably the worst butcher job I've seen in an engine.. The things that some people do.. Anyways...
Up here in Canada I'm having a hard time locating parts for this bike, even on ebay I can't find a cylinder.. I was told that the Blaster engine is the same..

Can anybody verify this? Will the Blaster Cylinder bolt on the IT 200 engine? I need to get a cylinder and other various parts like a crankshaft, connecting rod, some clutch parts etc.. Blaster parts are much easier to find than the old IT 200..

thanks in advance

The Blaster motor is Almost the same as the DT200 but air cooled. Not sure if the IT uses the same motor.

Well the original DT's from the 70s and early 80s were air cooled as well.. If somebody who has tried the Blaster 200 - IT 200 parts swap could confirm this, I will go and get a blaster cylinder for this engine.

The blaster engine is a mash up of a BUNCH of yamaha stuff from the late 70's early 80's parts bins but I don't know of anything that the parts are a direct swap to or from.

I think the under clutch cover parts for the blaster wwere sourced from the It200. I'm not sure if the cylinder is the same. Perhaps someone with a more diversified engine building history could chime in on it.
