Hey guys,
Looking for some input.
Cant decided on which route to go.
I had a banshee a few years ago, it was awesome, loved the power, little bit bigger bike. Only thing is there so expensive to build, maintain, modify.

Now I have almost a full bike, frame, +2 arms, swingarm, front and rear hubs, cylinders, full harness, flywheel n stator, stem, shocks and cases.

If i was to build one the only way I would do it again would be a 4mil. With that being said its going to be about 1500-1800 in just motor work. Couple hundred for powdercoating, couple hundred for wheels and tires. Then plastics.

I could try and sell all the parts I have and get a decent amount probably around a grand. Buy another Blaster and build it for no where near the cost of building the banshee.
Funds are tight right now and Id love for another banshee but the efficency of the blasters are very appealing. Yes they are smaller quads for adults and not as fast but theyre still fun 2 strokes.

I guess im just torn on what I should do and looking for what some other people think or what they would do.

Thanks

me, i would love a banshee also but its the same thing you said it is twice as expensive in almost every way to rebuild..i love my blasty and yes it does start to cost a pretty penny when fooling with motor work but no where near the price of a banshee..me personally i would stick with a blaster I:I

all depends, where do you ride and whats your riding style? if someone was to trade me a banshee for my blaster i would take it though... why not get a 250r its faster than a blaster and slower than a shee

I ride mainly trails and a nice chunk of property our family owns. No dunes. Ive looked in to 250r's and they are sweet bikes with alot better geometry then both bikes but parts are becoming harder to find. Its just hard making the decision on the banshee cuz what i have planned would be about $3500 give or take to make it the way I want it. Even if I went with the lesser side smaller build that i want that would still be about 2500.

sounds like you want a blaster

It's a tough choice. All except the engine it's the same dollar for same parts, powder, etc. You can do an engine for a lot less, just depends on the amount of power you want to make. This is the "kit" I used on my son's : Yamaha YFZ350 Banshee 4mm Stroker Crank Pistons Kit | eBay Mike is top notch and picky enough that the pistons and jugs were marked A & B for proper tolerances. Lakes is local to me so I saved shipping. Had about $850 into motor after it spit up a rod roller :o not pretty.

One nice thing about the 4mil is you can use the thick head gasket and have a nice smooth trail motor, or you can get the base spacer and have a more drag type powerband, all without porting.

If money is an issue at all, a Blaster is clearly the way to go.
For half the price of a Banshee or 250R you can buy and mod a Blaster to pretty close to what either quad does stock.

Let's see:
$800 late model Blaster (so you have disk brakes all round)
$60 head mod
$250 pipe of your choice
$50 LTZ rear shock
$50 extended steering stem (Banshee or DIY)
$50 2" swingarm extension (add on or DIY)
$10 extra basegasket or port the exhaust out with a drill and burr
$50 6 new plugs and an assortment of jets for tuning

You should be up to 35hp in a 320 lbs quad by now,
Are we up to the $1800-$3500 you will pay for a 37 hp 370 lbs Banshee or 250R?

sorry to everyone i dont want to hurt any feelings here but straight up no blaster will ever compare to a twin cylinder machine in any way! banshee is the king of quads and nothing will change that. i just got my shee a short while ago and you dont have to modify it in any way it comes badass right from the factory. i dumped a ton of money into my blaster and couldnt even get $1,500 dollars for it. (total waste of money) theyre good little machines but if you want a nice smooth ride and amazing factory power

banshee all day

Word!!banshee all the way!

i have two of each, 91 -04 blaster 01-05 banshee, i love them both but the power the banshee has is amazing. im currently building my o1 and my 05 is just slightly modified, but its so fun to blow all those weak 4 strokes away, both of my blasters are slightly modded too, and very fun for trails and tight places but just cant compare to each other, id build the banshee, check around on ebay you can usually find lots of banshee stuff kinda cheap, build that then blasters are pretty easy to come by too, you could pick one up for 1000 to 1500 on most days then youll have both.but the banshee is already strong you dont really have to drop a whole lot of money in it to make it scream.

well said.........

dont get me wrong guys i LOVED my blasters for being cheap to mod, easy to fix and light and nimble in trails (and pretty fast for a little 200cc) but the raw power, bigger/wider/smoother chassis and the endless motor combos and mods of the almighty shee you cannot beat it. mind you banshees do cost about twice as much to buy and mod...

I think you guys musta just had slow Blasters. :)

If you had a faster Blaster I am pretty sure you wouldn't feel that way.

And don't try to tell me "No, my Blaster was really fast" if it couldn't get by a stock Banshee.

hahaa i respect your humor! but i dont think my blaster was very slow lmao as a matter of fact no one to date can still beat my blaster track record :o even with fancy motor swaps and what have you they still cant. also note mine was a TRUE blaster with a blaster 3mill 240 kit hehe hence the username I:I I:I BTW mine had closer to 65-70hp and weighed 192lbs ready to race :o

you're right i must have had a slow blaster
