backfiring

my 1988 blaster keeps backfiring while i'm riding. it starts just fine but when i am riding and everytime i give it gas it either bogs down to low rpm and sputters or it backfires rapidly. it wont go to high rpm cause it keeps backfiring the only aftermarket piece it has is the silencer which is an fmf. i want to say powercore 2 but there is no sticker so i cant tell.

Check the flywheel key. Take off the cover from the opposite side of the kickstart, and try to wiggle the flywheel. It should have no play whatsoever besides turning the engine over.

The other things are make sure you have a good spark. Spend a couple of dollars and get a new plug.

well i cleaned out my carb and noticed that the jets are all stock. also my mainjet ring was on backwords. there was nothing wrong with my reeds. the backfiring stopped but it still sputters i think because the stock jets
