Hey guys! I've been at it for days trying to remove my axle nuts from the axle itself, and I need ideas on how to get the second one off as I finally removed the first one yesterday.

I already pulled the axle off of the quad, and the only parts I need intact are the brake rotor, axle carrier and sprocket hub.

I guess the main problem is not being able to keep the damn thing still while I beat on it with a monkey wrench and a rubber mallet.

Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks

Put a hub back on, then a tire.
Secure the tire so the axel wont move.
Get a 4' steel tube and put it on your large wrench.
Put it on the nut and give it all you got.

If you bend the pipe, get a stronger one, if you bend the wrench, buy something
american made, if you bend something american made, that nut will not come off.

Thanks for the advice Herp! Idk why i never thought of that, but I'll give it a shot when i get back in the garage.

I haven't been motivated to work on the bike in a few days cause I get so frustrated with the axle lol

You welcome, i'm not sure as to how you would secure it... We had both tires on and a person holding onto each tire when we needed to use a lil' elbow grease.

Park a truck on it!:D:D:D

Apply some heat and with a big hammer beat on a flat surface of the nut revolving the axle 180degs each time you hit.

This should make the nut ovaloid and effectivly break the seal.

You may need to repeat the process on another flat.

The nut will not be reusable as the ID will now be larger and will not torque up to specs.

I tried putting a tire on and sitting on it while I tried to loosen the sucker up with no luck. I figure i can get it off, but not without some helping hands.

If I don't have it off by the weekend I guess I'll just take it to school Monday and introduce it to an oxycetylene torch haha
