Rooftop DVD/LCD combo thingy.... Im considering installing one with IR headphones into my lexus for the daughter.... she likes the monitors we have now but id like some IR headphones for her to use so i can still listen to the stereo...

Any reccommandations for models to buy.... im normally an alpine person.. but ive used clarion and infinity before..

Cheers

i work at a stereo shop and we usually use the movies to go flip down. if u just want to be able to use headphones u can buy just the ir transmitter and head phones. and u could use the monitor u already have. theirs a flip down now that has built in PlayStation 2....thats what i want lol

Are they hard to install... i assume you gotta go into the headliner to run the wires... seems messy.. yet most installs are clean...what the secret..... i have two monitors already... but really just want some wireless IR headphones for the existing ones..figured easiest route is install new dvd player with ir...

Cheers

Im guessing u have headrest monitors now? all u would have to do to use them is get a ir and headphones. its pretty easy to install the ir, i usually put it on the headliner in between the driver and passenger side(doesnt really matter where it is at as long as its inline with the headphones and nothings blocking it). u will have to cut a small hole in the headliner. get a coat hanger and put it in between the headliner and roof(from the side) and push it to where it comes out of the hole in the center. tape your wires to the coat hanger and pull them threw then run a accessory wire and ground wire and run audio rcas to your dvd player.u will have to pop off all the panels thats in your path. its pretty simple to do just hard to explain lol. if u do the flipdown its basically the same thing just gotta cut a bigger hole in the headliner and u only have to run power and ground, if the flipdown has built in dvd. the easiest way is to get someone to hold the flipdown where u want and tape around it so u know where to cut it then put up a small 1/2 inch board inbetween the headliner and roof so u have something to screw the flipdown to. sorry if i was unclear on some parts. if i confused u just let me know and ill try to word it better.
