I searched the web and found numerous opinions on +2 and +3 swing arms. So I came back to the people I trust. I want to extend the swing arm on my sons 05 blaster. Being a Tool and Die maker I want to fabricate it myself. After I cut the swing are I plan to machine two solid pieces of steel one for each side. I plan to machine both pieces so that at both ends they would fit into the ID of the swing arm with a step that matches the OD. So I would have two to three inches of steel in the ID on each side and the +2 to +3 in the middle then weld. What are your thoughts on what I have visioned and will +3 be good for trail riding. Not all trails but some and they they are not real tight.. I am not into getting air/jumps so I don't encourage my so to do so.. I was even think +4 but that may be a little to much, taking away from trail riding.. I addition I plan to put a Banshee rear axle on as well I hear they are a direct fit..

Thanks

Nobody on here will encourage you to extend a stock swingarm. There is to a lot of risk involved. However you will do what you think is best.

I would recommend a +3. I have had a +2, 3, and 4. I think the 3 is the best for all around riding. The +4 looked cool, but had way to much tire spin. The +2 didn't really work for the power I have. The +3 is just right.

Imo if you are going to do that much work why not build one from scratch with stronger new material.. Than you can even make a roundhouse swing arm.;). If you are good at what you do I see no reason why you couldn't make one.. You will be much happier..

I youre sources are unlimited then make it out of Alum or Chrome Molly Steel in the roundhouse style.

Buy the roundhouse carrier tube and carrier from JJ&A and build your own swingarm. They sell reconditioned carriers for $110.
