ok was out on my blaster yesterday and was just driving about but when i give it the thumb it just made this high pitch noise and it makes it now when its running but i tried going a bit fast and you barely hear it then, i think its just the air coming out from the gasket if its blown out, but anyway so i seen that the air had been coming from around the gasket area and also noticed that the nut that holds the head on had came loose on the side that the air is coming out of this is on the left, so i tightened it up and it wasnt as bad could this just be the gasket or what ? need help but im taking it off tonight so ill let you'se know then :)

Could just be a head gasket bad due to loose head bolt. Also could have a warped head surface, especially if it was overtightened.

yeah i know its leaking but its only in a certain area like the bottom left corner thats where the bolt came loose aswell but im gonna go now ina while and take it off, what sorta stuff would i be looking for ?

so it is the head gasket?? or cylinder base gasket??
if you have a head gasket it can be felt "puffing" air out of the area. base gasket not so much. Like slick said if its been like that for some time it can do damage, warping the head/cylinder and damaging the gasket. Theres also a good chance your ok tho....

best advise take the head off and check it over. you should see in the combustion chamber where the leak is, It will tend to have burn marks directing to it. Make sure you check over all the studs and nuts to make sure there not stripped or damaged. buy a new head gasket clean mating surface and reinstall with the correct torque specs. DO A LEAK TEST and your good.

what i would do.... pull that head off check all stud/nut threads, clean mating surfaces (maybe even plane the head with sandpaper and glass.) clean off that head gasket well (ive ran them over the sandpaper before also... shhhh tho thats a secret!!!) loctite the head nuts to correct torque and you should make it out alright.

yes im just currently taking it off at the min there was 2 bolts loose when i properly looked at it but when i i replaced them the noise had gone but there was still air so im gona take it off now thanks everyone :)

The problem could have stemmed from overheating.

New head gasket.

Lap the head.

Replace offending studs and nuts.

Do not use Loctite on head bolts, the specified torque settings cannot be achieved.

Head lapping is placing the head on a flat surface covered with a sheet of abrasive paper, I use 400 grit wet and dry.

Move the head in a fig 8 motion whilst lubricating with Metho or WD40.
