i just recently purchased a 99 blaster and the guy I bought it off of says it needs a new head gasket. He said he just replaced the head with a high compression head right before I bought it so that doesn't make sense to me, I notice the exhaust was not put on correctly and when I start it it leaks out, I also looked at the air filter and noticed that there was oil in the air filter. I was told by a friend that it was because there's not enough air going in to the engine and too much air coming out causing it to not run properly, I'm just not sure if it's because of the exhaust and air filter or because the head gasket is bad.

Do you think it's idling high because of the leaks, I have multiple people telling me different things
Loosen up throttle cable at the and see what happens,
Also make sure choke is pushed in after starting.
