i am looking at a 98 blaster 200, the person i might buy it from said the piston blew in peices and blew the top head up. my question what kind of damage could this result in , with the lower motor or crankcase or if the cylinders not all beat up .... this guy bypassed the oil injection and said he mixed it wrong causing the piston to blow he is trying to tell me all i need is a piston, cause he has a spare head were there spark plug is ... should i stay away from this before buying and making a huge mistake ..... thanks any help is appreciated

piston and maybe head damage , maybe cylinder damage, maybe case damage
without taking it apart u wont know
u will need a piston and gaskets for sure, but u might also need head work, cylinder bore and u will have to split the cases to get the chunks out. And more...there always is lol

I bought a blaster with the entire engine disassembled into a carrying tote..... so one with a blown top end isn't too bad as long as you check everything out.

If the top end is off of it, look down into the engine and see if you can see any damage underneath the crank (against the case) and check the side to side play on the crank.

ok , ya was going to trade a second car i have for it.. but then i cant even tell if the gear box is ok without it running going on a wing and a prayer.. he was giving me a used head and said id have to just buy the stock bore piston ? but who knows till you do all that and something else is wrong ... plus whats the deal with by passing the oil injection on those

well the oil injection is just a failure point that can be avoided so we block it off just in case... now as far as the engine... you will need to take the top end off... take it to a engine shop have them measure the cylinder make sure it is still in spec and in round... have them hone it while its there... next buy a piston and rings to the exact size they tell you. send us pictures of the piston because if it exploded where do you think those little parts went? thats right straight into your crank so it may require you splitting the cases and removing those chunks of metal... sorry bro... just the way it is
