i have a 97 blaster that i am having trouble getting started. before i did anything but try to get it started it was leaking gas out of the overflow. so i took the carb apart and cleaned it out and put it back together and it still would not start. then i took the plug out and it was wet so i cleaned it off and put it back in and it cranked on the first kick(for about 30 seconds tops) i was able to start it about 4 or 5 more times but it would only run for a short time. after that i took the plug back out and it was wet again so i dried it and low and behold it started again. but i had the same problem......it kept bogging down after a few seconds. after doing this with the plug a few more times it decided it wasnt going to start anymore. so i looked at the carb again and it was flooded with gas again.....coming out of the overflow again. so i took that apart again and i cant even seem to get it to try to start but after a few minutes gas comes out of the overflow. im guessing that the float valve is gumed up but other than that i am at a loss and do not know where to go from here. thanks in advance

so the float being stuck would cause too much gas to get to the plug? and not start? how do i adjust the float im pretty new to working on carbs and just not really sure how to adjust it....thanks again

there is a little tab that you bend in the float and there is a certain height they need to be not sure on the # someone will chime in with that......as for the plug...could be jetting could be reeds.....check the reeds for chips or cracks

I would also like to know how to adjust the float. I think that's part of my starting problems too.
