Guy up the way has an 89 kdx 200 dirt bike needs a needle its broke.has awesome compression and looks like its in good shape.I asked what he wanted he says he payed 950 but said shoot him an offer.what's a good price?I looked it over and a carb rebuild looks like that and some fresh premix is all it needs.carb rebuild is nothing but what are these worth?are they junk?prone to any issues?(the whole bike not the carb)let me know guys I'm not particular to any brand I just love 2 strokes.

my buddy has a 91 he said he'd sell me for $500, runs good, hasnt been rebuilt in like forever, i havent gone to check it yet, just had rear shock rebuilt
the price your postin is too much for an antique, hahaaa
add a few more bucks to that and get sumthin newer

I agree with awk. I wouldn't give him more than 450 to 500. that bike is old enough to drink LOL. and not old enough to be nestalgic

Just picked it up for 100 bucks!awesome compression dyno port exhaust and no leaks but has been sitting in the barn since beginning of summer.carb does need rebuilt broken needle but is real clean.guy says the topend was rebuilt 6months by previous owner and the topends been off looks to have new gaskets.but I've got it home and in the garage and jewed him down to 100 bucks.don't think he knew what he had and the dealership had quoted him some ridiculous price for the carb rebuild.so what you guys think for a 100 bucks?good deal?are these liquid cooled 2stroke kawis descent and reliable?what should the compression be when I do the test tonight?what type of gear oil do these call for?what are the problem areas to be aware of and they're prone to?

Id offer him 5-700. KDX 200 are awesome trail bikes. If I get a bike just to trail ride on and play on it would be a kdx200.
X2 KDX 200 and 220 are kickass trail bikes, they are the best of both worlds.

I'm glad you got it bro :)

They are extremely reliable. I believe they have a throttle over ride system like blasters and they are prone to fail, other then that they are very soild bikes.

If you like your 89 I'd be on the look out for a 01 + ;)

Good deal. I use type F transmission fluid in my 250r. Shifts smooth and its only 2 bucks a bottle. Alot of people buy the 10 dollar stuff but no need to. I mean what do you think is in a automatic car transmission? Gears and clutch disks.
