300ex motor in a blaster... will it work??

lol paulie. yeah i agree. you'd be farther ahead to buy a 300ex. i am guessing since your 11 your not going to have the skills/tools to do the modifications necessary to put that motor in.

or learn to love that little 2 stroke :)

Well I do have a dad and with my dad I could swap the motor. After all we've taken apart my whole motor and put it back together. Anyhow anyone looking for a sweet rippin blaster if so let me know.

you can always try man. anything is possible if you (read your old man) know how to weld real good and have some basic machining tools.
in order to get the 300ex motor to work in the blaster's frame, you really only need to figure out the motor mounts and thread the pipe. start at the intake boot. in fact, threading the pipe through the frame will prob be easy cuz it'll be less tangled than the 2stroke pipe. plus there's no expansion chamber so it'll be smaller....also if the 300ex is electric start, there will be a start button to mount up and wire into your harness.
but why are you so obsessed w/ a 4stroke engine? more moving parts, more maintenance, more sh*t that can break! granted, hondas are def w/o a doubt more reliable than yamahas, but still, a 4stroke has valves/cam/cam chain. plus you'll have to prob swap out your carb or at the very least rejet it if the boot matches.
if you've got a hard time wheelieing a 2stroke, you'll prob have a harder time wheelieing a 4stroke....

if i was gonna put a 4 stroke motor in a blaster frame... well i wouldn't, plain a simple. lol.

but if, in some hickish impulse, i did, i would probably go with a yfz 450 motor. :)
but i'd probably just keep it in it's own frame, cause it's wider, longer, and built better to handle the power.

True that. For all the work involved in a motor swap you want to go with somtin with more potential then the 300ex. The stock Blaster 200 will stomp the 300ex in the power department with not that many mods and be totally rideable.
Any 250 2 stroke or 450 4 poke will make you and your pops efforts worth while.

Thanks guys for all your tips. I am actually gonna try to stick a 300ex motor into my blaster before the summer because I wanna ride soo bad.

dude, stop being a pussy and give it some damn gas,
if you cant wheelie a blaster, you cant wheelie period, having a 300ex motor isnt going to help you suck less, moving mounts will change the geometry of the frame that yamaha worked so hard to manufacture, so just put a helmet on, man the f*ck up, and do a damn wheelie!

id rather have a four stroke, but i do agree with some of you, the blaster motor will last someone like you 6 years, while the 300ex will last you 4 if your lucky.
you probably never clean and re-oil the air filter, and sh*t breaks dude, dont be saying the motor is sh*t because you dont keep up with maintainance, this is an expensive sport

true dat, it cost money to recreate.

i gotta say that you'll get away a sh*t ton cheaper getting a good port and polish job and a good head design from a knowledgeable builder. i'm pretty sure that my stock bore blaster p&p will clean a 300ex no prob. i can almost keep up w/ my buddy's near stock 400ex.....once i put on my new shearer pipe and get my redesigned jug/head back from angus, i should be able to easily stick to his 400.
my opinion is to learn to tune and customize your engine. just yearning for the next size up all the time won't teach you sh*t. take what you've got and learn to squeeze out all the juice you can. then you'll have knowledge.

also, i wouldn't get the yfz450 engine. they're notorious for having severe crank and rod problems.

your gonna betray us all with a 4 poke in a blasty, jist stick with your blaster and you'll thank us all in a few months or so,or maby longer but i dout that
