So I have sold my cbr1000rr and once again have purchased a very clean 2001 blaster. has full fmf exhaust, bored .30 over, i have rebuilt the carb, replaced reeds, replaced piston rings... my blasty will start up on choke only for a couple of seconds then completely foul the plug. it is wet black, a few days agao it was running and it was fouling a dry black but now it will not run but for a few seconds. i cannot figure this thing out for the life of me. it has stock pilot and a 290 main. everything else is pretty much new. when i kick it it will spit and sputter then poof out the exhaust.

cleaned and had alot of time to do it so it was done right. not a newbie mechanic just not alot of experience with these two strokes. and yes i am premixing 32:1 i am in nc

sounds like the timing is off, sheared the woodruff key in the flywheel and its not firing at the right time???, ya did check for spark right???

how is your spark?. a 290 seems a little big but if you have your airbox lid is off that should be about right. i would pop your flywheel off and take a look at your flywheel and stator. my friends blaster acted up like that but his was hard to start and we had to bump it just to get it running and it was his stator goin bad. if your stator looks good i would re clean the carb take the choke out clean that take the air screw out do the same. you shouldnt really worry about your main yet cause it should still start and idle with a fat main..

thats what i was thinking. it does have spark but i cannot tell if it is a good spark or a bad spark i assume it is good. i will check the stator in the morning... what should i look for in a worn stator???

i would check for surface rust on the stator and on the flywheel. and check the woodruff key wile your in there lol.

ok cool but if the woodruff key was sheared then it prolly wouldnt start at all right??? and it did run the other day for about 25 minutes and then bam that was it foul plug after foul plug... hate to pick your brains too much but i really like this blasty and would definitely like to get it good running order and keep it that way

uhh idk i i have herd different things when they break. ik when my boys broke it wouldn't Evan start but sounded like it wanted too. and i have seen then run but verry crappy. was the smoke out the pipe a nice blue or was it white?.
its cool man ask any and all questions you may have.

yeah done a compression check and it is where it needs to be and it is a white smoke... i actually have a tech looking at it now... thinking of some cheap mods to do to it to make a little more power... and i am from fayetteville but i bought it off a guy from wilmington....

oh i live in southport. do you know where that is?

Uni Air Filter, open airbox, get rid of the sh*tty fmf and get a toomey!

uhh, FMF isn't sh*tty. Why does everyone bash FMF? It's a good starter pipe. There isn't any engine work because this guy had this blaster posted on my local craigslist with the details. Don't listen to him. FMF isn't the BEST, but it's way the hell better than stock.
