Hey guys, new to the forum, but I have owned my 95 since 1996. I am going to start riding again, and I wanna make some cheap upgrades. I know I won't be able to keep up with my buddies 400ex and 450r, but I wanna set my bike up as best I can. How much better are the banshee front shocks? Also what's the difference in the 250r, 400ex and 450r rear shocks. I bought a used swinger and was thinking of extending it 2 or 3 inches but keeping the stock shock mount. This should keep the level close to the same with the longer shock. I am about 200 lbs, and ride mostly trails, but some dunes.

Thanks!

banshee shocks are a good upgrade for the money,
450 shock is a little longer and better suited for a heavier person.
the 400ex shock is nice a plush, thats what im running and love it.
im really not sure about the 250r shock but id imagine its better.

If you are extending you swingarm, i would go with the yfz450 shock and make a lower mount,Or maybe you can use the stock one if you extend it in front of the mount.

Cool, thanks for the info. What should I expect to pay for some used banshee front shocks? $50?

Also, a 450R rear shock? $80?

Did the 400ex shock raise the rear? Is it stiffer than stock?

Thanks!

yea i sold my banshee fronts for 50
i know there is a guy on here selling a yfz450 shock for 75 i think?
the 400 shock raises its like a half inch, and is alot softer then stock.

Cool, it looks like I will be looking for a 450R or 250R shock, which should let the bike sit pretty well when I stretch the swinger 2-3" (in front of the shock mount).

Thanks for all the help guys!

And yes, I have owned my blaster for a while - This is the only quad I have ever owned - saved my money and bought it for $2000 in 7th grade - in 1996. It has been siezed & rebuilt 3 times - and it was even stolen from my house in 1998 - they cut the lock on the shed. Lukily, the police tracked them down through the u-haul dealer they used when they robbed me, and a bunch of other people on the same night.

So, at 6'1" and 200 lbs, I feel like I should be riding something bigger, but I have a long history with this bike, and I cant let her go, haha.
