Just picked up an '88 for $500
My daughter blew up her '95 in the St. Anthony ID dunes this summer.
This '88 seems clean and has stock exhaust still. My question is these shocks. Are they stock?

Ok next question. There are no heel guards like on my '95
Where they not included on the '88s?
Also the right rear plastic has a black piece attached to the bottom but again nothing to protect the foot from the tire.

Somebody prob took them off. Stock I think all blasters came with heel gaurds similar to these, but these are for banshee

I guess that means the frame on my '88 won't have the bolt mounts for them either. Guess I'll just pick up some nerf bars. Alba's are only $82 on ebay

Grab a set of used raptor, or YFZ450 heel guards and bolt them up. You should be able to install them with minimal fabrication.

There are quite a few threads on here where people did that.

These are raptor 250 heel guards. This is how I mounted mine. Used a piece of 1" aluminum flat stock and made a bracket. I prefer these over the yfz because they aren't as big. It you don't have a extended rear axle the yfz 450 guards will stick out past the rear tires. The second pic is the yfz guards. However they were easier to mount. Didn't need brackets just manipulation.

although nerfbars are great and serve a purpose, they do not protect your feet from going back into/under the tire, at least the $100 ones without built in heelgaurds don't.

these electrical conduit strap/clamps can be used to wrap around the frame and give you a bolt thru mounting point for heelgaurds, ect.

these are very similar to the ones I fab out of aluminum for my brake kits to mount onto 88/89 frames with the missing mount
find the correct size to wrap around the frame and the holes align for bolting thru

Also, the 88-89 footpegs are slightly shorter and don't have holes drilled for heel guards.

On another note, don't let that 88 front brake lever get away. They are very hard to find and not available new. If you want to get rid of a cable rear parking brake and keep the stock front drum brakes, that is the brake lever you need. Later Blasters incorporated the parking brake into the front brake lever. Of coarse I prefer hydro front discs, but on a budget build, that lever is the hot ticket.

the shocks on the front of mine look pink. I think they are the same as yours. I really don't know what year mine is. I was told it was an 98 but I think it is older.
