one of my customers has a 06 white blaster with red frame for sale. If I can get it for 1100 is it a good deal? has good compression. good spark, but carb is dirty.

is this an ok? want to get it for my wife. not sure if she will like it or not over her bear tracker (probably sell the bear tracker if she likes it)...

but, is this an ok deal? if she dont like it think I can get my money back or more?

its in great shape, and all factory. no oil delete or anything like that. I am just torn on it.

looking for input. gonna see the guy in about an hour.

It Seems about Right , A Leak Down test And Compression Check Will Help allot Before you even Try to ride it ! .

No body is going to let you tear their stuff apart to do a leak down :o. Comp is only a spark plug.

Judge from general condition. If tires are worn off it's seen lots of use. Without any add ons doubt if it's been ragged on much. '06 in Mi are asking 15-1800. Flash him a G and walk away with or without it I:I

Got any pics of it? $ 1,100.00 is a little pricey for a bike that needs carbuetor work. That said, I'd also offer him $ 1,000.00 if its solid and clean, and get it if he takes the $$. Carburetor work is easy to do on these engines, and finding a 2003 or newer Blaster (with the very-desirable full hydraulic brakes) that hasn't been abused is getting harder and harder as the years go by.

If you get it, keep the bike all-stock, get it running properly, and let the wife try it out before modding it too much. My wife loves riding tandem on my Blaster, but even though it has to haul around almost 500lbs of combined rider weight, my ported engine has enough power to scare her at times.

The point is, leave the engine corked-up in stock form (airbox lid and all) at first and see what she thinks. Women generally accept something new to ride as long as they feel they can control it at first. Then she'll be asking for more power later, once she feels confident riding it. If you give her a bike with too much power, she'll likely launch too hard, pop a wheelie, and be scared of it from then on. At least that's how it happened with my wife. She likes the Blaster, but was scared silly hanging onto a TRX 450r. She rode it once (all the time staying in first gear), burned her leg on the exhaust, and wouldn't touch it again. Too much bike for her.

Since your wife learned how to shift (hopefully! :D) on the Beartracker, adding the manual clutch is really just the next step for her. She'll probably have fun on a stock Blaster once she gets the hang of how to kickstart the engine and launch without stalling.

I got it.

Agreed. I think she will figure it out

Wise choice! I think she'll like it. Those short shifter throws make popping through the gears easy. You can take the shifter lever off the shaft and advance or retard it one spline in either direction to make the lever fit her foot better if needed.

Good luck on the fix! If the carb is a green, slimy mess, send me a PM and Ill clean and build it for you.

so I took the carb apart, and cleaned it up. the float needle was stuck in the brass tube that it sits in. so soaked it in some wd40, and then used a small punch and just forced it out (no hammers, just pushing by hand). cleaned it all up and took out the jet that is screwed onto that plastic funny brown peice. made sure all passages where cleaned up.

put it all back together. drained tank, and then ran some fresh stuff threw it (still draining it). then plugged it into carb, and put more fresh gas in. started on the first kick.

NOW, on half choke the bike runs great. starts, and will idle perfectly. but when cruising runs like its choked. if you turn the choke off when cruising runs better, but will not idle at all... and wants to bog if you let off the gas.

what you guys think about that one? ill buy a new plug today (not that thats the issue)...

that is a decent deal for a good running 03+ blaster. being bone stock is a good thing! the less that has been done to it the less problems it probably has

If the float needle valve was that bad, the whole carb needs to be dissasembled and cleaned. There are lots of small passages that can get gunked up. Be sre to pull the emulsion tube and clean hole on side of it, the main jet holds it from bottom. I prefere Berrymans carb dip, but can of carb spray might do it.

Good find!!

no no no. that is your oil injection system. the tors box is the big metal box on top of the carb. read the links i gave you. the tors delete and the carb cleaning section awk has there will probalby fix all your problems. check that airfilter out too

gotcha.

ok, Ill look at the links. just got back home.

gonna mess with it some this afternoon. OR. just go for a ride and then play some COD. we will see what happens. lol...

as for the air filter. that is one thing I havent dont yet. I dont have a big enough phillips in my box to get those screws out. looks like it has NEVER been done (screws dont look like they ever had a screw driver on them). anyway I started on one and it acted like it was gonna strip. gonna go see if my dad has one at his house (down the street)...
