Ok, so this engines has NEVER been taken apart since it was bought brand new in '03. At the time the top end was taken apart, it had 120psi compression, no air leaks and motor was running fine. I just took it apart for the fun of it. lol.

Anyways, theres ALOT of carbon build up on the combustion chamber, the piston head and exhaust port.

1) How do i clean it up?

2) How does the cylinder and piston look? Does it need a hone? Those "spots" that kind of look like rust, they cannot be felt by the naked finger or nails and the cylinder walls feel smooth and cant feel any scratches.

The piston shows some wear,I would replace it and the rings.

Have the bore measured and if within specs give it a hone.

As a matter of interest does it have oil injection and what oil do you run?

By the amount of carbon on the side of the piston below the rings that is far from a "new" engine. Clean the rust out of the cyl with nothing more aggresive than a scotch brite pad and have the bore measured. My dollar says it will need to be bored. The carbon below rings is either from worn rings (most likely) or stuck rings possibly from carbon in grooves.

JMHO, what are/were your plans for this?

Oil Injection was ran for the first 8 1/2 years this engine has been running. A 1 1/2 year ago till today its been running with a block off and Koltz oil.

Never said this was a new engine lol, read title, 10 year's without it being open xD. Even if i dont feel any scratches with my nails or finger and its smooth you will think a bore is needed? I think a hone will do fine.

This engine was running very good other than i think there is an air leak somewhere(wasnt able to find it and even with an air leak tester everything came out positive) BUT the engine sometimes when running it would rev like an air leak or something. Never figured out why the hell it was doing it, so i just decided that after 10 year life span i should open her up, change the top end gasket and clean up the deposits.

Measure the bore of the cylinder and put it up, then you can get advice on if the cylinder is worn too much for that bore or if a hone will be ok, is this the blaster in your sig?

Ia have known old carby boots to leak when flexed or vibrated.

They hold air when tested, but fail when moved or shaken around.

The leak starts and increases as the revs go up, causing a lean mix and the idle soars.

Can be a very serious problem if it happens at wider throttle openings.

Wouldnt expect all the mods and then the standard engine, why would you not get it ported?

Got a new car, got more into the car scene, kinda forgot about the blaster for awhile and still dont want to invest more in it. Its fine how it is for how little im using it.

Never would have thought about that. Will replace that with new gaskets too.
