Okay so I got this blaster cheap needed a rebuild got that all done now tjat I got it running it has a very rough/choppy idle and when I ride it the little bit I do it has no power and very low rpm shift points. Replaced all new few lines and new spark plug cleaned air box. Still the same issue. Ready to give up on it soon. Soo any ideas/tips of what it could be and how to solve would be greatyly appreciated

i would check for a air leak. i recently replaced my top end with they paper gaskets had a leak and the quad had no power. replaced it with a genuine yamaha one and it now rips :D

Will definately look into an air leak! New top end kit I got never came with fresh gaskets so more then likely that's the issue

You didn't use new gaskets?!? I can tell tell you almost for certain that's what it is then

No didn't think of it at the time. I assumed kit would have them and in the excitement of getting it all together it slipped my mind. Will be ordering a kit tonight!

Would do leak test but don't have anything to test it with and no cash to buy stuff spent everything I had in this blaster :p

Aslo any1 know what direction the head gasket should be? I think that's where my problem is. Not sure where the square end should be facing

The pointy part should always be pointing towards the exhaust and there will stamp in the square part that says "up", make sure that side of the gasket is facing up

Ok ran into fron wheel bearings were shot no big deal but when installing base gasket it caught on piston and ripped(good use of $20 right!?) Would just using gasket maker work if I put a good thick bead down

The above is the incorrect way to leak test a 2 stroke motor which uses reeds in the intake.

This test will not test anything past the reeds as the reeds will seal the pressure.

The most common place for leaks to occur is in the intake boot due to incorrect tensioning of the bolts.

The following is a far better way to test.

A problem with putting a thick bead of sealant down it that it will squeeze out on the inside and partially block the transfers, and cause unwanted turbulence.
